2012 has been a massive year for cinema. Bond struck back with Skyfall, The Hunger Games began, Spider-man did it all over again and The Cabin In The Woods pretty much reinvented everything we know about horror. Prometheus both amazed and appalled audiences, The Hobbit was either too long or not long enough and nobody even knew John Carter happened. The Avengers did 'comic book movie' better than ever before and Batman finished his run. It's been epic - so here's the best and the worst of the lot of it...!

New 'Man of Steel' poster reveals Superman's dark side
A brand new poster has been released for the next Superman movie, 'Man of Steel', due for release in the UK 14th June next year. It looks as though this new adventure will follow in the footsteps of The Dark Knight Rises and delve deeper into the 'darker side' of the character, as he's seen being escorted from his local Aldi after having been spotted using his ability to move faster than the speed of light to sneak past the tills without paying for his groceries.

Review: M's the Bond girl in 'Skyfall'
James Bond is back, showing The Bourne Legacy how a motorbike chase should be done and, arguably, better than ever. Skyfall is definitely a Bondgasm - it's 'classic Bond meets new Bond' and misery guts Daniel Craig seems to have a lot more fun as 007 in his third outing than in any of his others. With M by his side, he embarks on a surprisingly personal and visually jizz-worthy adventure set mostly right here in the UK. Get set for shots of Big Ben, tube crashes and an awful lot of the word 'bloody'.

Review: The Dark Knight Raises... the volume!
Warning: "Holy spoiler-alert, Batman!"
As a teary-eyed farewell to a beloved film franchise (until the inevitable reboot) critics are flashing their five stars at Batman, in much the same way they did with Harry Potter's final adventure. This is not a five star film (and neither was the final Harry Potter). It's being said, however, that The Dark Knight Rises is not only a brilliant Batman movie, but one of the best movies ever made. It's a good film, yes, but it's also absurdly loud, ridiculously moody and buried so far up its own arse it thinks it's back in the bat cave.

DC's Justice League movie set to be a marvellous mess?
You'd never catch Marvel making such a mess of things! Let's just ignore
how shit Captain America was and take a look at where we stand in
DC-land at the moment: Batman is currently the darkest franchise at the
movies. It's so dark in fact, that if it were to get one shade darker it
would collapse in on itself and form a black hole, instantly destroying
the entire galaxy. Whereas The Green Lantern is cheerful, bright green
and completely ridiculous. Superman is on about his 15th reboot and
Wonder Woman didn't even land her own TV series. There is literally naff
all that's exciting about Aquaman, along with a whole array of other DC
characters nobody's ever even heard of. Bringing this batch of mismatch
characters together for a 'Justice League' movie wouldn't work right now
- which means, everyone will have to get rebooted again beforehand. How
many reboots would a reboot reboot if a reboot could reboot reboots?
